Junaid Akbar Resigns as PAC Chairman on Imran Khan’s Instructions

Islamabad: Following directives from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder **Imran Khan**, Member of National Assembly **Junaid Akbar** has formally resigned from his position as **Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC)**. He submitted his resignation to the party’s Chief Whip.

Junaid Akbar confirmed, *“I have sent my resignation to the Chief Whip as per the directions of the party’s political committee.”*

Earlier, PTI founder **Imran Khan** had instructed all party members to **resign from all parliamentary committees**, including chairmanships.

Prior to the scheduled PAC meeting today, PTI MNA **Sanaullah Masti Khel** announced that **all PTI chairpersons and members of parliamentary committees** had resigned. He made the announcement while addressing the press gallery and left the session hall immediately.

Today’s PAC session, which was to be chaired by Junaid Akbar, was expected to address several **nationally significant issues**, but the **collective resignation of PTI members cast doubt over the meeting’s proceedings**.

Sanaullah Masti Khel revealed that a **4.5-hour-long political committee meeting** was held the previous night, during which it was decided, under Imran Khan’s guidance, that **all PTI committee chairpersons and members would resign**. Additionally, PTI also decided to **boycott upcoming by-elections**, including the one on the seat of the late **Mian Muhammad Azhar**.

Speaking to media outside Adiala Jail, **Aleema Khan**, flanked by her sisters, expressed gratitude to party supporters and confirmed that **Imran Khan had instructed the party to quit all National Assembly committees**. He also instructed **Barrister Gohar** and **Salman Akram Raja** not to participate in by-elections, stating that doing so would **legitimize the current system**, which the party rejects.

A day earlier, senior PTI leadership including Barrister Gohar, Salman Akram Raja, and others visited Imran Khan at Adiala Jail for consultations.
