Flour Prices in Balochistan Hit Record High, Surge Also Reported in Peshawar and Lahore

CHAMAN:The price of flour in Balochistan has reached its highest level of the year, with a steep increase recorded over the past 10 days. A 100-kg sack of flour, which was previously available for Rs7,000, is now being sold for Rs9,000 — a surge of Rs2,000.
According to the Chaman Dealers Association, the price of Punjab mills’ flour has risen from Rs6,900 per 100-kg bag to Rs8,900. Similarly, locally milled fine flour, previously available at Rs7,200, is now being sold at Rs9,150 per 100-kg sack.
Dealers allege that mill owners are justifying the hike by citing heavy rains in Sindh and Punjab, rising wheat prices, and other factors, though they believe the increase is largely artificial. The Flour Association confirmed that this upward trend is not limited to Chaman but is being witnessed across the province, warning that prices may rise further by the end of August.
Meanwhile, in Peshawar, the price of a 20-kg flour bag has jumped by Rs550, reaching Rs1,850. In Lahore, wheat prices have also spiked, with the cost of a 40-kg sack rising by Rs300 to Rs3,100. Flour prices in Punjab are also expected to climb in the coming days.
