Barrister Gohar Clarifies: Salman Akram Raja Never Resigned from PTI

Rawalpindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar has clarified that senior party leader Salman Akram Raja never submitted his resignation, therefore the question of its approval or rejection does not arise.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Barrister Gohar said that although there may be some ambiguities, PTI will fully comply with the instructions of party founder Imran Khan. “If the founder chairman has directed us not to contest the by-elections, then that decision will be final,” he stated.
He stressed that the matter of Salman Akram Raja’s resignation was baseless since no resignation had been tendered in the first place. Gohar expressed satisfaction over meeting Imran Khan after three months, saying such meetings should continue regularly.
He further noted that jail authorities had restored basic facilities for the PTI founder, who now has access to newspapers and books. The meeting, he added, also covered discussions on the country’s political situation, party matters, and the devastating floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Gohar, Imran Khan expressed sorrow over the destruction caused by rains and instructed for full-scale relief operations to support the flood victims.
The PTI chairman also announced plans for a rally in September to push for judicial independence, restoration of democracy, and the release of the PTI founder.
He advised that Salman Akram Raja and other leaders should refrain from commenting on internal party matters via social media, and clarified that if any decision was taken by the political committee regarding participation in elections, he was not present in that meeting.
