Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Recalls First Meeting with Gen (R) Faiz Hameed in 2018

Lahore: Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has shared details of his first-ever encounter with General (R) Faiz Hameed, revealing that he did not even recognize him at the time.

Speaking on a podcast, Abbasi said that in November 2018, then-Army Chief General (R) Qamar Javed Bajwa sent him a message expressing his wish to meet Abbasi, Miftah Ismail, and Khawaja Asif to discuss the economy.

“After consulting within our party, we agreed. General Bajwa messaged again saying Miftah Ismail and Khawaja Asif would come to my house, and then General Faiz would pick us up. At that time, Faiz Hameed was DG-C. When Miftah and Khawaja arrived at my place, I told Khawaja Asif to let me know who General Faiz was when he came, as I had never met him before,” Abbasi recounted.

He added that General Faiz arrived, took them to the meeting, and the session lasted for four hours, with discussions primarily focused on the economy.
