Baloch Students Front Demands Release of Chairman Javed Baloch, Condemns Enforced Disappearances
The central spokesperson of the Baloch Students Front (BSF) has strongly condemned the continued enforced disappearances and alleged state oppression in Balochistan. In a press statement issued on Friday, the spokesperson claimed that educated Baloch youth and political activists are being arbitrarily detained and forcibly disappeared without due legal process.
He highlighted the profiling and harassment of Baloch students in educational institutions across the country, stating that such practices are severely affecting their mental health and academic performance. “Instead of ensuring a safe educational environment, Baloch students are being targeted and intimidated,” he said.
The spokesperson drew particular attention to the case of the organization’s chairman, **Javed Baloch**, a law student at the University of Karachi, who was allegedly abducted on the night of **April 23, 2025**, from his residence in Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi. According to eyewitnesses, he was taken by police and plain-clothed personnel after being subjected to physical violence. Four months have passed, and he remains missing.
“This is not an isolated incident,” the statement read. “Several BSF members have previously been forcibly disappeared, held in illegal detention for extended periods, and subjected to physical and psychological torture without any charges.”
The BSF called such actions a clear violation of Pakistan’s Constitution and international human rights laws. “The systematic targeting of educated youth through enforced disappearances is a blatant act of hostility towards education and political awareness,” the spokesperson said.
The BSF urged the government, judiciary, and relevant state institutions to take immediate action for the safe recovery of Javed Baloch and other missing persons. It also appealed to international human rights organizations, political and social activists, and student bodies to raise their voices against the alleged atrocities and demand accountability for the ongoing repression in Balochistan.
