PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Condemns Arrests of Imran Khan’s Family Members, Warns of Rising Political Tensions

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has strongly condemned the arrests of Imran Khan’s nephews, stating that such actions are fueling political tensions in the country.

Taking to microblogging platform X, Barrister Gohar expressed serious concern over the arrest of Sher Shah Khan, the second son of Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan. He pointed out that just a day earlier, Aleema Khan’s other son, Shahrez, was also taken into custody.

“These arrests are increasing political unrest at a time when we are trying to reduce tensions,” Gohar said, adding that while PTI seeks political stability, the authorities are escalating the situation by targeting family members.

He further criticized the authorities for isolating Imran Khan, stating that the PTI founder is being denied access to both his legal team and family members. “Imran Khan has been completely isolated—he is even being deprived of television and newspapers,” Gohar noted.

The PTI chairman warned that targeting close family members of Imran Khan is aggravating the situation and stoking public anger. “This conspiracy must end immediately,” he urged.

Earlier, Aleema Khan claimed that her son Shahrez was abducted from their residence by armed, masked men. According to her, four individuals in plain clothes entered the house through the kitchen while Shahrez, his wife, and his father were upstairs. The intruders allegedly harassed the household staff, including drivers.

In a latest development, media reports confirm the arrest of Aleema Khan’s second son, Sher Shah Khan. According to family sources, he was detained near his residence by plain-clothed individuals accompanied by police officers.
