Sindh Approves Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill 2025: Stricter Rules for Heavy Vehicle Licensing and Legal Action for Violations

KARACHI: Governor Sindh, Kamran Khan Tessori, has officially approved the Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2025 under Article 116 of the Constitution. The new law has come into immediate effect.
According to Express News, the legislation aims to enhance public safety and introduces tougher regulations for the issuance of driving licenses, particularly for heavy vehicles. The amended bill imposes additional conditions for acquiring Heavy Vehicle (HTV) and Light Transport Vehicle (LTV) licenses, including a mandatory pre-licensing training course.
A demerit point system for drivers has also been introduced as part of the new regulations. Authorities have confirmed that any violation of the amended Motor Vehicles Bill will result in strict legal action.
