IHC Bars Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri from Judicial Work Amid Fake Degree Case

Islamabad: In a major development in the alleged fake degree case, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has barred Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri from performing judicial duties until a decision is made by the Supreme Judicial Council.
A two-member bench of the IHC, comprising Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Azam Khan, issued the order on Monday. The bench also appointed two senior legal experts — Barrister Zafarullah Khan and former Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf — as amici curiae in the case.
The court has further issued a notice to the Attorney General of Pakistan, seeking his assistance on the question of maintainability of the case. A detailed written order has also been released.
Meanwhile, the IHC has announced a new duty roster for its judges. Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri’s name has been excluded from both division and single benches, effectively removing him from all judicial assignments until further notice.
