Heated Exchange Between Kamran Shahid and Senator Afnan Ullah on Live TV

Lahore: A heated verbal clash broke out between senior anchorperson Kamran Shahid and PML-N leader Senator Afnan Ullah Khan during a live broadcast on Dunya News.

The argument erupted during a discussion on government advertisements in the media. Senator Afnan Ullah claimed that the government spends Rs. 45 billion annually on media advertisements. In response, Kamran Shahid stated that 80% of the media’s revenue comes from private sources and that government advertisements are meant solely for publicity, funded not from officials’ pockets but from taxpayers’ money.

The debate quickly escalated, with Kamran Shahid calling the government a “rubber stamp” and a “burden.” In retaliation, Senator Afnan Ullah labeled the media as the real burden, accusing journalists of habitual dishonesty and claiming they are paid to lie.

Kamran Shahid responded by calling the PML-N a party of liars, referencing how Shahbaz Sharif once called Asif Ali Zardari a thief but later helped him become President — calling it the “height of shamelessness.”

The argument turned personal when Senator Afnan Ullah made a derogatory remark, calling Kamran Shahid “shameless by generations.” Although visibly affected, Kamran Shahid maintained his composure and chose not to retaliate, instead taking the show to a commercial break.

The confrontation has sparked widespread debate on social media, highlighting the deepening tensions between media and political figures in Pakistan.
