Over 300 Wheelchairs Taken from Quetta Civil Hospital in Two Years, Causing Rs. 5 Million Loss

Quetta:In a startling revelation, more than **300 wheelchairs** have been **taken away from Quetta’s Civil Hospital** over the past two years by attendants of patients, causing a financial loss of over **Rs. 5 million** and creating severe difficulties for other patients.

Speaking to **Geo News**, **Medical Superintendent (MS) of Civil Hospital Quetta, Dr. Abdul Hadi**, confirmed that attendants often **use hospital-provided wheelchairs during patient visits** and then **take them home**, never returning them.

Dr. Abdul Hadi revealed that the hospital administration **holds various identification documents** including **CNICs, service cards, and Afghan citizen cards** of the individuals who took the wheelchairs. However, despite repeated follow-ups, **these individuals never return to reclaim their documents or return the wheelchairs**.

“This not only resulted in a huge financial loss to the hospital but also created difficulties for new patients who are in urgent need of wheelchairs,” the MS said.

In response to the shortage, the hospital administration has **procured new wheelchairs**, but the recurring issue highlights the need for **stricter enforcement and security protocols** to prevent further misuse of hospital property.

Dr. Abdul Hadi appealed to the public to act responsibly and return any hospital equipment they may have taken, intentionally or unintentionally.
