Over 11,000 Police Deployed for Chehlum Security in Karachi

KARACHI:Extraordinary and foolproof security arrangements have been made across Karachi for the observance of **Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA)**, with **11,479 police officers and personnel** deployed citywide to ensure peace and safety.

According to police sources, **1,113 police officers** will be stationed at **642 Imambargahs**, while **2,901 personnel** have been deployed for the security of **501 majalis**. Additionally, **7,465 officers** will provide security for **108 mourning processions** (matmi juloos) scheduled across the city.

All roads connected to the **main Chehlum procession routes** will be completely sealed, with **tight security around Nishtar Park** and its adjoining areas, a key gathering point during the event.

The **Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Karachi** has directed all **SHOs** to remain in their respective jurisdictions, intensify **patrolling, snap-checking**, and **picketing** operations. Sensitive installations, public places, and key buildings have been placed on **high alert**.

Security has also been tightened at all **entry and exit points of the city**, with coordinated **checkpoints, vehicle searches**, and enhanced screening procedures. The **Bomb Disposal Squad** will conduct **sweeping and clearance operations** at procession routes and other important locations.

The AIG further instructed for **advance intelligence collection** and **immediate sharing of information** at the police station level to prevent any untoward incident. He warned that **no negligence in security arrangements will be tolerated**.
