Illegal Constructions a Threat to Human Lives, Says Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon

Karachi: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has warned that illegal buildings pose a serious threat to human lives as they often fail to meet safety standards. He urged citizens to voluntarily remove such unauthorized structures to avoid forced action by authorities.
The minister stated that operations against illegal constructions are ongoing across various districts of Karachi. In a recent drive, illegal portions of five buildings were demolished and one shop was sealed.
Speaking on the matter, Memon said targeted actions were carried out in areas such as Gizri, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and PECHS against property owners who blatantly violated building laws. He emphasized that these operations will continue indiscriminately and with full transparency.
So far, over 357 illegal structures have been demolished as part of the government’s crackdown. Memon added that the Sindh government is taking serious steps to enforce urban planning and building regulations. Clear instructions have been issued that no illegal construction will be tolerated.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to making Karachi completely free from illegal constructions and encroachments. The anti-encroachment campaign, he said, is essential for improving the city’s infrastructure and ensuring the safety of its residents.
Memon concluded by stressing that illegal buildings often do not comply with basic safety requirements and can endanger lives, and citizens should cooperate with authorities by removing such structures on their own initiative.
