Mayor Murtaza Wahab Announces Elevated Water Lines to Curb Water Theft in Karachi

Karachi: Mayor of Karachi, Murtaza Wahab, has announced the installation of elevated water lines in various parts of the city to prevent water theft. He highlighted that the rapid population growth in areas like Korangi, Malir, and District Central necessitated these measures.
Speaking on Geo News’ program *Geo Pakistan*, Murtaza Wahab revealed that water supply lines are being laid in the tail-end areas of the city to ensure better access to water. A major project worth 10 billion rupees will commence in October to improve water supply infrastructure in these areas.
The mayor also addressed the issues surrounding the K-IV project, pointing out that there were significant irregularities in the project during 2022-2023. He noted that the K-IV project had not been pursued with the required seriousness in the past, but WAPDA claims that it will complete its work on the project by December 2026.
Wahab further stated that every industrial area in Karachi is equipped with a fire station and two fire tenders. He mentioned that when a fire broke out at a factory in Landhi, Karachi, KMC’s firefighters responded promptly and ensured that the water supply was maintained.
In addition, Murtaza Wahab called for more federal support for Karachi, emphasizing the need for stronger working relations with all industrial associations to address the city’s ongoing challenges.
