Water Shortage and Drought Issues in Gwadar Due to Lack of Rainfall: High-Level Meeting Under the Chairmanship of CM Balochistan

Gwadar : The ongoing drought and water scarcity issues in Gwadar have intensified due to a lack of rainfall. A high-level meeting, chaired by Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sardar Fazal Buzdar, was held, where Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Gwadar, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, and senior officials from relevant departments participated. The meeting resulted in decisions regarding immediate and long-term measures to address the water crisis in the region.
CM Balochistan directed the acceleration of ongoing water projects and the full mobilization of resources to resolve the water crisis swiftly. The Chairman of Gwadar Port Authority briefed the meeting, stating that the Water Desalination Plant had been restored to a capacity of 300,000 gallons per day, with plans to increase its capacity to 600,000 gallons per day within the next three days.
CM Balochistan emphasized that during power outages, the water plant must be shifted to alternative energy sources to ensure uninterrupted water supply. Additionally, directives were given to speed up the process of linking water supply from the Shadi Kor Dam.
The Chief Minister ordered the completion of the water pipeline project within 15 days. A Contact Committee, headed by the Chairman of Gwadar Port Authority, was established to oversee the water crisis management, with daily progress reports to be sent to the CM Secretariat.
CM Balochistan stated that the water shortage issue in Gwadar would be resolved under all circumstances, and any negligence or delay would not be tolerated. He also mentioned that he would raise the issue of unannounced and prolonged power outages from Iran with the Prime Minister and Power Division.
In conclusion, CM Balochistan assured that he would personally monitor the progress of water-related developments and work towards resolving the issues faced by the public.
