Kidney Transplants Resume at Balochistan Kidney Hospital After One-Year Suspension: Health Minister

Quetta:Balochistan’s Minister for Health, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, announced that kidney transplant procedures have resumed at the Balochistan Kidney Hospital after a one-year suspension. During a press briefing, the minister revealed that the suspension had forced patients to seek treatment in other provinces. However, the service has now been successfully reinstated.

“We resumed kidney transplants after a year, and so far, five successful transplants have been carried out, with 30 more patients registered for the procedure,” Kakar stated.

In addition to kidney transplants, the minister highlighted that **150 corneal surgeries (eye transplants)** have been conducted in the province. He further added that **free cardiac surgeries and the provision of free stents** for heart patients are ongoing under government initiatives, providing significant relief to the people of Balochistan.

Kakar emphasized that medical services are being expanded through a **Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model**, aiming to deliver quality healthcare at the doorstep of citizens. He described these developments as part of a broader strategy to bring **transformational reforms in the healthcare sector** and to address longstanding deficiencies.
