Peshawar High Court Halts Further Action in Umar Ayub and Shibli Faraz Disqualification Case

Peshawar: The Peshawar High Court issued a stay order on further proceedings in the disqualification case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Umar Ayub and Shibli Faraz. The court restrained the Election Commission from taking any further action regarding the disqualification notification issued on August 5.
According to Express News, the high court’s decision came after it reserved its ruling on the petitions filed by the PTI leaders, challenging the Election Commission’s move to disqualify them. The court has ordered the Election Commission to refrain from any further action based on the disqualification notification until the next hearing.
Additionally, the court issued notices to the Election Commission and other concerned parties, and adjourned the hearing until August 20.
In a separate development, the court also granted protective bail to Shibli Faraz and Zartaj Gul. Earlier, the high court had reserved its verdict on their petitions for protective bail and subsequently approved their request, granting bail until August 11. The court directed both to appear before the relevant high court and file their appeals by that date, adding that they should not be arrested before then.
