Kashmir’s Special Status Revoked Illegally: Farah Azeem Shah Condemns August 5 as Black Day

Quetta:Chairperson of Iman Pakistan Tehreek and Member of the Provincial Assembly, **Ms. Farah Azeem Shah**, has strongly condemned India’s revocation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, calling it a **“Black Day”** for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued on the occasion of **Youm-e-Istehsal**, she said that just like every year, August 5 will be marked as a day of mourning and protest by the Kashmiri people. The abrogation of Article 370, which granted **special autonomous status to Jammu and Kashmir**, was a unilateral and undemocratic decision by the ruling **Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)** in India, she stated.

> “This move aimed to suppress the voice of the Kashmiri people and strip them of their rights. It violated their aspirations and trampled on democratic values,” said Ms. Farah.

She stressed that **Article 370 was the constitutional basis for Jammu and Kashmir’s accession to India**, and its revocation is **unconstitutional and illegal**. The decision, she added, reduced the people of the region to a state of bondage and subjugation.

Farah Azeem Shah reiterated that **Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan**, and the country will continue to raise its voice against **Indian atrocities** on all international forums. She emphasized that **August 5, 2019, will be remembered as the day when India violated UN Security Council resolutions** and turned the valley into the world’s largest open prison.

> “Today, Muslims in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir are deprived of their basic human rights. But India must remember: no tool of oppression can deprive the Kashmiri people of their rightful, legal, and UN-mandated right to self-determination.”

She concluded by highlighting that the **revocation of Article 370 led to a surge in human rights violations** in the region and the imposition of systematic oppression by Indian security forces on the local population.
