Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti Chairs Health Department Review Meeting

Quetta: A review meeting of the Health Department was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, where updates on various health initiatives were presented. The meeting highlighted ongoing projects, including the state-of-the-art Heart Disease Institute and Trauma Center in Balochistan, and the activation of 164 Basic Health Units (BHUs) across the province.
During the briefing, it was shared that instead of constructing new buildings, existing government buildings are being utilized, which is expected to significantly improve healthcare facilities in rural areas. With these 164 BHUs, it will be possible to treat over 1.2 million patients annually in rural regions.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti remarked that digital reforms are being introduced in the healthcare sector for the first time in the province. He added that all BHUs have been digitalized, which will enable effective monitoring and performance evaluation.
He further stated, “By making basic health centers functional and effective, we are ensuring the provision of quality healthcare services at the local level to the common man.” He emphasized, “The provincial government is providing not just buildings but an active healthcare system, and the measure of development is not buildings, but the delivery of services.”
The Chief Minister also expressed, “Our goal is to provide dignified, timely, and quality healthcare to every individual in Balochistan, and we are bringing real change in the healthcare sector through performance, not claims.”
He concluded by saying, “A strong healthcare system is the foundation for self-reliance and a prosperous Balochistan, and all projects will be completed within the stipulated time and opened for the public.”
The meeting was attended by Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakakdar, Chief Secretary of Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Government Spokesperson Shahid Rand, Additional Chief Secretary Development Zahid Saleem, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, Secretary Health Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Panizai, Special Secretary Finance Jahangir Khan, and Additional Secretary Chief Minister Secretariat Mohammad Fareedon.
