Government Increases Levy Tax on Petrol and Diesel

Lahore: The federal government has added another burden on the inflation-hit public by raising the petroleum levy on petrol and high-speed diesel by Rs 2.50 per liter.
According to official documents, the levy on high-speed diesel has been increased from Rs 74.51 to Rs 77.01 per liter, while the levy on petrol has been raised from Rs 75.52 to Rs 78.02 per liter.
Sources indicate that the federal government is also charging an additional “Climate Support Levy” of Rs 2.50 per liter on both petrol and high-speed diesel, further adding to the financial strain on the public.
It is worth noting that the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs 7.54 per liter, bringing it down from Rs 272.15 to Rs 264.61 per liter. Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel has been increased by Rs 1.48 per liter, making the new price Rs 285.93, up from Rs 284.35 per liter.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the new prices will be applicable from August 1 for the next 15 days.
