Woman Appeals for Husband’s Release After Alleged Illegal Detention by Security Forces in Quetta

QUETTA:Rahima Bibi, a resident of Quetta, has raised concerns about the illegal detention of her husband, Saddam Hussain, who she claims was apprehended by security personnel without a warrant. During a press conference held at the Missing Persons’ Camp on Thursday, Rahima shared her distress over the disappearance of her husband and the lack of action from local authorities.

According to Rahima, on the night between July 18 and 19, 15 to 20 armed security personnel in black uniforms raided their home in the Killi Habib area of Faizabad, Quetta, and took her husband, Saddam Hussain Kurd, into custody while blindfolding him. She further stated that the forces took both her and her husband’s mobile phones with them.

Rahima explained that when she inquired about the whereabouts of her husband, the security personnel claimed that they had received some complaints against him and that they would investigate the matter before releasing him. However, as of now, her husband remains in custody, and no further information has been provided.

Frustrated with the lack of action, Rahima mentioned that she visited the Kachi Baig Police Station several times to file an FIR but was denied by the SHO. She then approached the SP Saryab, but her concerns were still not addressed. She said, “We are enduring immense mental stress and anguish due to the uncertainty surrounding my husband’s whereabouts.”

Rahima has made an urgent appeal to the government and authorities, asking that if her husband has committed any offense, he should be presented in court and given a chance to defend himself. If he is innocent, she demanded that he be released immediately.

She also appealed to the provincial government, referring to the recent ordinance passed regarding enforced disappearances, asking for clarity on whether her husband’s detention was related to the investigation under the new law. Rahima urged the authorities to provide her with the necessary information to end the family’s growing distress.
