Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari Mocks Aleema Khan Over Protest Failure

Lahore: Punjab’s Information Minister Azma Bukhari has sarcastically commented on the failure of a protest led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters, mocking Aleema Khan, the sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, over her absence from the event.
Bukhari remarked that the “Phapho’s (aunt’s) wish could not be fulfilled” as her nephew, Imran Khan’s son, was not coming to Pakistan. She further accused Aleema Khan of stopping her children from traveling to Pakistan, questioning how a revolution could succeed if the “children of the Mahatma” did not participate in protests.
In her statement, Bukhari claimed that the protest scheduled for August 5 had already failed before it even began. She sarcastically noted that Aleema Khan had provided a “preemptive announcement” about the protest’s failure.
Bukhari went on to criticize the current leadership of PTI, stating that they were not supportive of the protests, while calling those involved in burning statues of martyrs as “symbols of hatred” for the nation.
Further commenting on the events of May 9, Bukhari expressed disdain over those defending such actions, saying that instead of feeling remorse, they were shamelessly justifying the “failed rebellion” that resulted in their disqualification.
