Actress Mishi Khan Slams University Professor for Publicly Humiliating Student Over Lack of Laptop

Lahore: A disturbing incident involving a government university professor publicly humiliating a student has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage. Actress and television host Mishi Khan has joined the chorus of condemnation, calling the incident “shameful” and questioning the state of the country’s education system.
The controversy surrounds Dr. Tayyab Chaudhry, an assistant professor at COMSATS University Lahore, who allegedly mocked and belittled a student in front of an entire class for not owning a laptop. The video of the incident has rapidly circulated across social media platforms, triggering anger and concern among students, educators, and celebrities.
According to classmates of the affected student, the professor not only insulted the student in front of 50–60 peers but also forced him to call his brother on speakerphone, only to humiliate him as well. Fellow students revealed that the student was emotionally distressed and continues to suffer from the mental impact of the event.
In a video message posted on Instagram, Mishi Khan strongly condemned Dr. Tayyab Chaudhry’s behavior. She said,
“How many more students are silently enduring humiliation from such so-called teachers? This professor, employed at a government university since 2015, insulted a student simply because he didn’t own a laptop.”
Quoting the student’s account, Mishi Khan stated that the student informed the professor his father had passed away last year, to which the professor cruelly responded, “Don’t you have anyone else at home who earns? A brother, or did he also die?”
She further added that the professor told the rest of the class to collect charity so that the student could afford a laptop, mocking him by suggesting he take “zakat” or “alms.”
Mishi Khan blasted the professor, saying,
“This man is a disgrace to the name of education. He publicly humiliated an orphan in front of an entire class. What kind of education system allows this?”
Despite the backlash, COMSATS University Lahore has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident. Students and social media users continue to demand accountability and disciplinary action, emphasizing the urgent need for reform in how educators treat students.
