Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti Chairs Key Meeting on Balochistan’s Development Projects

QUETTA:A crucial meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on the implementation of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

Parliamentarians from Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Muslim League, Awami National Party, and Jamaat-e-Islami attended the session. The meeting reviewed progress on proposed development schemes and made important decisions to ensure their timely completion.

Additional Chief Secretary for Development and Planning, Zahid Saleem, gave a comprehensive briefing on comparisons with previous PSDPs, the nature of current schemes, fund availability, and implementation speed.

Addressing the meeting, CM Bugti emphasized that the government’s top priority is the timely and quality completion of public-interest development projects. He stated that all schemes fully funded up to Rs 650 million must be completed by February 2026 without delay.

He further announced that planning for the next fiscal year’s budget and development priorities will be completed before March 2026, with input from all stakeholders to form an integrated and effective PSDP that delivers benefits directly to the people.

Bugti asserted that all future PC-I documents for development schemes must be prepared based on full cost estimates. Incomplete or phased estimates will not be accepted, as they lead to mismanagement, delays, and corruption.

He stressed prioritizing realistic and necessary projects based on available resources to ensure rapid execution. “Transparency, speed, and quality are the three pillars of the development process, and there will be no compromise on them,” he said.

The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of incorporating recommendations from elected representatives, which reflect public aspirations and enhance transparency and trust.

Bugti reiterated that timely completion of every scheme restores public confidence. The government will personally monitor and evaluate the progress of all major projects, and any corruption, mismanagement, or misuse of resources will not be tolerated.

Concluding the meeting, CM Bugti reaffirmed that sustainable development in Balochistan is a shared responsibility. The government will continue to work with all stakeholders under a transparent, effective, and practical strategy to achieve genuine public welfare.
