Tragedy Strikes Haridwar: 6 Dead and Dozens Injured in Stampede at Mansa Devi Temple

At least six people have been confirmed dead and numerous others injured in a tragic stampede at the Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The incident occurred on the stairs leading to the temple, which were crowded with a large number of pilgrims.
Authorities confirmed that rescue operations were swiftly launched, and over 35 individuals have been rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. The local police and rescue teams are continuing their efforts to provide assistance.
Eyewitnesses reported that the situation escalated when a large crowd of devotees tried to leave the temple area, triggering a stampede. “People were pushing and shoving, and that’s when the chaos started. I fractured my hand trying to escape the crush,” said one survivor.
The stampede highlights the challenges of managing massive crowds at religious sites, especially during peak pilgrim seasons. Authorities are expected to review crowd control measures to prevent future tragedies.
