Search Efforts Continue for Father and Daughter Swept Away in Islamabad’s Flash Flood

Islamabad – The search for a father and daughter, who were swept away by a flash flood in Islamabad, entered its third day with no sign of the victims. Rescue 1122 teams from Rawalpindi made a key discovery when they found the door and bonnet of the missing car under the Swat Bridge. According to rescue officials, the operation will continue without pause until the victims are located.
The tragic incident occurred near a private housing society in Islamabad, where retired Colonel Ishaq Qazi was driving with his 25-year-old daughter. Due to heavy rainfall, the stormwater drain overflowed onto the road, trapping their vehicle in the rising water. In an attempt to restart the engine, Colonel Qazi faced a powerful surge of water, which quickly carried the entire car into the drain.
Eyewitnesses reported that Colonel Qazi called for help, but the force of the water was overwhelming. The car was carried into an underground channel, where the pressure of the water proved deadly.
Rescue 1122, along with Navy divers and other aid organizations, has accelerated the search using advanced tools, drones, and helicopters. Excavation and search operations are ongoing around the Swat Bridge and the surrounding areas. Rescue teams are also investigating underground passageways, the flow direction of the water, and possible entrapments.
The local community is grieving, and the family anxiously awaits any signs of a miracle. Authorities have assured that rescue efforts will continue with full intensity until the two victims are recovered.
