Monsoon Rains Claim 245 Lives Across Pakistan, Including 118 Children: NDMA Report

Karachi – Torrential monsoon rains across Pakistan have claimed the lives of 245 people, including 118 children, since June 26, according to a detailed report issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
The NDMA reported that over 602 people have been injured, 854 houses damaged, and 208 livestock killed due to rain-related incidents including house collapses, flooding, and landslides.
Breakdown by Region:
Punjab has suffered the highest casualties, with 135 deaths and 470 injuries.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 59 deaths and 73 injuries.
In Sindh, 24 people lost their lives while 40 others were injured.
Balochistan recorded 16 deaths and 4 injuries.
Islamabad reported 6 deaths and 3 injuries.
Gilgit-Baltistan saw 3 deaths and 4 injuries.
Azad Kashmir reported 2 deaths and 8 injuries.
Gender and Age Statistics:
Among the deceased were 83 men, 44 women, and 118 children. The injured included 232 men, 168 women, and 202 children.
The NDMA noted that most of the deaths occurred due to collapsed structures, drowning, landslides, and flash floods. The authority has urged provincial governments and local administrations to remain on high alert as the monsoon season continues.
