Pakistani Politician Jamshed Dasti Sets Unprecedented Record: Disqualified Over 9 Fake Degrees

Islamabad – In a startling revelation, senior journalist Zahid Gishkori disclosed that Pakistani politician Jamshed Dasti has become the first Member of Parliament in the world to be disqualified due to holding nine fake academic degrees.
In a recent vlog, Gishkori explained that nearly seven of Dasti’s educational qualifications were proven to be fraudulent. The degrees spanned from matriculation to master’s level, including additional certifications, all found to be bogus. Gishkori highlighted the uniqueness of the case, pointing out that Dasti had served three terms as a Member of the National Assembly (MNA), held the position of Chairman of a Standing Committee, and even won elections from two separate constituencies simultaneously.
“This could be a world record or at least a national one in Pakistan,” Gishkori remarked, calling it a “unique case” in the country’s political history.
He further revealed that between 15 to 20 parliamentarians have previously been found with fake degrees, and suggested that if thorough investigations were carried out, similar cases might still exist in the current parliament.
In a follow-up tweet under the headline “Pakistan’s Top Story,” Gishkori stated that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had verified the authenticity of Dasti’s degrees by contacting the issuing institutions. Based on their findings, Dasti was officially disqualified due to possession of nine fake, bogus, or incorrect degrees, diplomas, and certificates.
This development has sparked a debate on educational fraud in Pakistani politics and calls for stricter vetting of candidates’ credentials.
