Double Murder in Quetta: Victims Were Not a Married Couple, Confirms Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti

Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has confirmed that the two individuals killed in a recent brutal incident in Quetta were not a married couple, contrary to rumors circulating on social media. Addressing a press conference, the CM revealed that both victims were already married and had children—five in the case of the woman and six in the man’s.
He clarified that the murdered woman’s husband is named Noor, and stressed that there was no marital relationship between the two victims. “This was a horrific and inhumane act that neither society nor the government can tolerate,” Bugti stated firmly.
He criticized the rapid spread of misinformation on social media, where it was falsely reported that the victims were a newlywed couple. “People have the right to know the truth, and the truth is that these individuals had no such relationship,” he added.
The Chief Minister announced that action against the culprits has already begun, including the suspension of the Special Branch DSP of the area for failing to inform the government in time.
One of the most troubling aspects of the case, according to Bugti, is that no one has come forward to file a First Information Report (FIR). “Despite the presence of the victims’ parents and children, no FIR has been registered. When police arrive for investigation, the men disappear from the area, and women come out and pelt stones at law enforcement,” he said.
In a disturbing detail, CM Bugti revealed that the video of the murder circulating online was actually uploaded by the killers themselves. “The killers wanted it to be seen. The government is thoroughly investigating the matter and will ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice,” he assured.
Bugti also expressed concern about the continuing influence of traditional tribal justice systems, such as jirgas. “We are still part of a society where such parallel systems exist, but the government is taking action within constitutional bounds to curb their influence.”
He concluded by urging the public to verify information before sharing it, especially in the age of social media where misinformation spreads rapidly.
