Brutal Honour Killing in Balochistan Shocks Nation: Over 20 Arrested Including Tribal Leader Sardar Sherbaz Satakzai

Quetta: A horrific case of honour killing in the Degari area of Balochistan has sent shockwaves across Pakistan after a video of the incident went viral on social media. The video shows a defiant woman, unarmed and surrounded by armed men, fearlessly walking toward her death, followed by the execution of a man in the same brutal manner.
The couple, who had reportedly married of their own will around 18 months ago, were allegedly lured to a remote location under the pretense of a gathering and then murdered in cold blood by members of their tribe in the name of “honour.”
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti took strict notice of the incident and confirmed that over 20 suspects have been arrested so far. Among those detained is Sardar Sherbaz Satakzai, a key suspect in the case, who was apprehended during a police raid at Satakzai House in Quetta.
“The victims have been identified, and all individuals involved in this heinous act will be brought to justice,” Bugti said in a statement on social media platform X. “The state stands with the oppressed and will not allow anyone to take the law into their own hands.”
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind, during a press conference, stated that the locations of the crime and the suspects’ hideouts have been identified and that targeted operations are ongoing. “This is a tragic and inhumane incident, and the government will not remain silent,” he said.
The deeply disturbing video has sparked widespread outrage across the country, with citizens demanding justice and accountability. Many are questioning whether the perpetrators will be punished or if the case will be buried like similar incidents in the past.
Human rights activists, civil society members, and the public have condemned the killings as barbaric, calling for the culprits to be publicly punished to deter future crimes in the name of tribal honour.
