Pakistan and Azerbaijan Agree to Form Working Groups to Strengthen Trade and Rail Connectivity

Islamabad: A high-level meeting was held to discuss the strengthening and promotion of rail and trade connectivity between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. The meeting, chaired by Minister of State for Railways and Finance, Bilal Azhar Kiani, took place at the Ministry of Railways.
Minister Kiani emphasized that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is committed to a comprehensive strategy for the development and modernization of the railway system. He stated that Pakistan attaches great importance to enhancing trade relations with Azerbaijan via railways.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Secretary Railways Syed Mazhar Ali Shah, Secretary Railway Board Muhammad Yusuf, as well as officials from the State Bank of Pakistan, SIFC, NLC, and Maritime Affairs. Azerbaijan’s delegation, led by Deputy Chairman Arif Aghayev, participated via video link.
Secretary Muhammad Yusuf briefed the meeting on Pakistan Railways’ network. Discussions also focused on the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan rail agreement. Both parties agreed to establish joint working groups to explore further opportunities for collaboration.
