Online Fruit Business Thrives in Quetta as Consumers Turn to Social Media for Fresh Produce

Quetta, Pakistan – The trend of online shopping in Quetta has expanded beyond clothing, groceries, vehicles, dry fruits, and electronics, as fresh fruits have now become a booming part of the online market. Local residents are now ordering fresh fruits directly to their doorsteps through social media pages and WhatsApp groups.

Several online fruit markets and vendors in Quetta are not only catering to the city but are also providing delivery services to other districts of Balochistan and major cities across Pakistan. Among the most popular fruits ordered online are Quetta’s famous grapes, apples, and pomegranates, with demand reaching as far as Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.

Innovation in Business
Online fruit vendor Akhtar Ahmed Khan shared his thoughts on the growing trend, emphasizing the need for innovation in both business and consumer habits. He explained that in the past, sending fruit from one city to another involved multiple intermediaries, which often resulted in a significant price increase. However, online fruit delivery has allowed prices to remain relatively stable, even with long-distance shipping.

“For example, when sending apples from Punjab or Sindh, the cost per kilogram could increase to 300-350 rupees due to the intermediaries involved, but through online orders, the same fruit can reach the customer for just 200-250 rupees,” Khan stated. He highlighted that this model has benefited farmers, fruit vendors, and consumers alike, providing a more direct and efficient supply chain.

Convenience and Affordability
The rise of online fruit purchasing has made it easier for consumers to access high-quality, fresh produce at competitive prices. According to Faizan Kashmiri, a resident of Islamabad who orders fruits online, the ability to receive properly packed, fresh fruits at affordable prices has been a game-changer.

Kashmiri said, “Not only do I get to avoid the crowded markets and the hassle of commuting, but I also save money by ordering fruits like those from Quetta, which are usually priced higher in Islamabad. Through Facebook and WhatsApp groups, I can have them delivered directly to my doorstep at a reasonable price.”

Benefits for All Parties Involved
This online fruit delivery service has created a win-win situation for everyone involved. Consumers now enjoy the convenience of fresh fruit delivery, while vendors gain access to a larger market and better sales opportunities. Additionally, farmers benefit from direct access to consumers, bypassing multiple layers of middlemen that traditionally inflated the cost of produce.

As online fruit sales continue to grow, it appears that Quetta is emerging as a key player in this new digital commerce trend, offering fresh produce at affordable prices to cities across Pakistan.
