Prime Minister Expresses Condolences Over Karachi Building Collapse and Loss of Lives

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep condolences over the tragic collapse of a residential building in Karachi, which resulted in the loss of lives. The Prime Minister, who is currently in Azerbaijan attending the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit, conveyed his sorrow over the incident.
In his statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif prayed for the high ranks of those who lost their lives in the disaster and offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He also wished for the swift recovery of those injured in the collapse and directed the relevant authorities to ensure the provision of all necessary medical facilities.
The Prime Minister instructed that rescue operations be accelerated to rescue those trapped under the debris. He emphasized that a strategic plan should be developed on a priority basis to prevent such incidents in the future.
Chairman ABAD Expresses Concern Over Structural Safety
Meanwhile, Chairman of ABAD, Muhammad Hussain Bakhshi, also expressed his condolences over the collapse of the five-story residential building in Lyari, which led to multiple injuries. In his statement, he expressed concerns regarding the safety of dilapidated buildings, highlighting the alarming fact that despite having a list of unsafe buildings, the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) had not taken any action to evacuate them.
He urged the Sindh government to conduct an immediate assessment of the condition of buildings and take necessary steps to evacuate dilapidated structures. Bakhshi also called for the provision of modern machinery and resources to rescue teams to ensure timely intervention. He further requested that rescue teams speed up their efforts to assist the injured trapped under the rubble. ABAD expressed its heartfelt sympathy to the affected families.
