Govt’s Repression Can’t Bring Peace: JI Balochistan Chief Molana Hidayat ur Rehman

Quetta:Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan and Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Molana Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch has said that the government cannot establish peace by cutting off electricity and water or by deploying more force. Instead, he urged the authorities to uphold citizens’ basic rights and eliminate corruption and lawlessness. He expressed deep regret that despite being rich in resources like Saindak, Reko Diq, chromite, CPEC, Sui gas, gold, and silver, the people of Balochistan do not even have access to clean drinking water.

Speaking during protests, sit-ins, and meetings in Turbat, he said that the looting, injustice, and lawlessness have compelled them to march towards Islamabad. He voiced full support for the ongoing protest in Turbat demanding the restoration of border trade, which he described as vital for the economic survival of Balochistan’s people.

Molana Hidayat ur Rehman emphasized that the closure of border trade has plunged the region into an economic crisis. He warned that the government’s ill-considered decisions are destroying employment opportunities and pushing the region further into poverty, unemployment, and social unrest. “In districts like Gwadar, Chaman, and other border areas, the local economy is heavily dependent on cross-border trade, and its suspension has led to deep economic and psychological consequences,” he said.

He expressed solidarity with the *Haq Do Tehreek* and other political parties supporting the restoration of trade in Turbat. “Immediate restoration of border trade is necessary for lasting peace and prosperity in Balochistan,” he stated, adding that the government must provide economic security to the people.

Strongly condemning the recent police crackdown on peaceful protesters in Kech, he said, “We are legally protesting for our right to livelihood. The state’s brutality against peaceful sit-in participants under the cover of darkness reveals the insecurity and desperation of the administration and institutions.”

He criticized the use of state power to suppress people rather than to provide employment, peace, and development. “All arrested leaders and workers must be released immediately. If they are not freed, the *Haq Do Tehreek* and Jamaat-e-Islami will be forced to hold sit-ins across the entire Makran region,” he warned.

Molana Hidayat ur Rehman concluded by stating that the government must choose dialogue over force and address the genuine concerns of Balochistan’s people to ensure lasting peace and justice in the province.
