Government Has No Money to Run Government Offices, Yet Claims About New Provinces Are Being Made: Dr Abdul Malik Baloch

If the NFC Award Is Cut, We Will Have to Make Trips to Islamabad for Salaries; All Parliamentary Leadership Should Raise Its Voice in Unity: Former Chief Minister

QUETTA (Daily Qudrat Quetta): An important session of the Balochistan Assembly is underway under the Speaker’s chair, during which opposition and government members expressed serious concern over the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award and the provincial financial situation. Addressing the session, former Chief Minister of Balochistan and National Party central president Dr Abdul Malik Baloch said that the province is currently facing a severe financial crisis, and the government does not even have money for the basic expenses of government offices, yet, astonishingly, talk of creating more new provinces is being made.

Stressing the protection of the provincial share at the federal level, he said that any kind of cut in the NFC Award by the federal government can under no circumstances be allowed. He made clear that under the Constitution, no deduction from our NFC Award is possible, and no compromise will be made on the province’s rights.

Former Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch warned all political and parliamentary parties that on the matter of a possible cut in the NFC Award, all representatives and leadership of the province will have to unite on one platform. He further said that if we do not all come together and adopt an effective stance on this most important financial matter, the time is not far when we will have to make trips to Islamabad every month even to pay the salaries of government employees.
