Court Remarks: “If You Don’t Face Inquiry, You Will Face Difficulties” – Sindh High Court Hearing on Arif Alvi’s Bank Accounts

Karachi: The Sindh High Court, while hearing a petition challenging the freezing of former President Arif Alvi’s bank accounts, remarked that if the petitioner refuses to face the inquiry, such difficulties will arise. The court also stated that he is wasting both his and others’ time.
The constitutional bench of the Sindh High Court heard the petition regarding the freezing of Arif Alvi’s bank accounts. During the previous hearing, the court had issued a show-cause notice to the investigating officer for his failure to appear. The officer complied and presented his response in court.
The government’s lawyer argued that the suspects are not appearing for the inquiry, despite being issued two notices. He added that the court had already granted interim relief, allowing the withdrawal of up to 10 lakh rupees from the account.
Arif Alvi’s lawyer told the court that his client was being prevented from using his money.
To this, the court responded, “If you don’t face the inquiry, you will face these difficulties. You are wasting your own time and others’ time.”
During the hearing, the government lawyer requested that the investigating officer be excused from attending the next hearing, a request the court accepted.
The court then adjourned the case until the second week of August.
“Court Didn’t Listen to Any of My Requests”: Alvi’s Lawyer
Later, speaking to the media outside the Sindh High Court, former President Arif Alvi’s lawyer, Barrister Ali Tahir, stated that they were not even provided with a copy of the investigating officer’s report. He further added, “The court didn’t listen to any of my requests.”
