Baloch Nationalist Leader Calls for Unity Against Mines and Minerals Act, Urges Sindh’s Support for Balochistan’s Resource Rights

Karachi:Former Senator and prominent Baloch nationalist leader, Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani, has condemned the Mines and Minerals Act 2025 as a “heist on national resources” and called for the people of Sindh to unite with the people of Balochistan in opposing it. He emphasized that just as Balochistan had supported Sindh’s struggle against the Kalabagh Dam project, Sindh should now raise its voice alongside Balochistan to prevent the exploitation of its natural resources.

In a telephonic conversation with Karachi Press Club officials and senior journalists, Raisani stated that the survival of Balochistan lies in the protection of its mineral resources, much like the survival of Sindh depends on the waters of the Indus River. He urged Sindh’s intellectuals, political activists, and students to join the Baloch struggle against what he called the “plunder of resources” under the controversial Act.

He further criticized the political parties for disappointing their constituencies by sidelining dedicated political workers and instead embracing individuals favored by the establishment. Raisani accused these politicians of trading the future of the nation for short-term political gains.

Regarding the controversial Mines and Minerals Act, he said it is a “betrayal” of future generations, likening it to previous actions where the resources of one province were sold off for the benefit of a few.

He also drew attention to the fact that while mineral resources, gas, and petroleum are being extracted from Sindh, the ruling elites have kept the local population deprived, failing to ensure that these resources benefit the people.

Raisani concluded by pointing out that the same political parties that sold Sindh’s water rights to the Thar Desert were now attempting to seize Balochistan’s resources through illegitimate means. He called on all regions to unite against such moves and protect the rights of future generations.

This statement calls for a renewed regional alliance between Sindh and Balochistan in the fight for the equitable distribution and preservation of natural resources in Pakistan.
