Another Tourist’s Body Recovered from Swat River, Death Toll Rises to 10

Swat, Pakistan:Authorities have confirmed the recovery of another body from the Swat River, bringing the death toll to 10 after a tragic incident that occurred yesterday morning. A sudden flash flood in the river trapped around 70 individuals at various locations, with 55 of them rescued. However, the search for the remaining victims is still ongoing.
The incident unfolded when a family of 10, from Sialkot, was having breakfast at a hotel near the riverbank on the Swat Bypass. As they ventured into the river’s dry section, a powerful flash flood surged due to unexpected rainfall, sweeping away all of them. The affected family had been visiting Swat for tourism when the tragedy struck.
Authorities have stated that the search operation is still underway for three more individuals, and the bodies of the other victims have been recovered.
Experts attribute the sudden flash floods to climate change, rising temperatures, and the accelerated melting of glaciers, which are increasingly causing such dangerous surges in river waters. The unpredictable nature of these events is becoming more common in many parts of the country.
This incident highlights the urgent need for better awareness and preparedness to mitigate the risks posed by natural disasters, especially in popular tourist destinations like Swat.
