“Imran Khan’s Lawyer Challenges Prosecution in Islamabad High Court Over 190 Million Pound Case”

Islamabad: A hearing took place today in the Islamabad High Court regarding the suspension of sentences for PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the 190 million-pound case. The session was conducted by Acting Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif Khan. During the proceedings, Khan’s lawyer, Barrister Salman Safdar, NAB’s Special Prosecutor Javed Arshad, and Prosecutor Rafi Maqsood appeared before the court.
According to private news channel Aaj News, the hearing was attended by several prominent figures, including former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, Noreen Khan, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, and Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub.
During the hearing, NAB requested to postpone the case, which the court granted. Acting Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar remarked that a new hearing date would be mentioned in the order.
Following the adjournment, Barrister Salman Safdar expressed his frustration with the delay, stating, “This case has been listed after a long time, schedule it for Monday and allow me to present the arguments.” He further challenged the prosecution, saying, “You’ve made the case, now come and play, why run away to appeal?”
In response, NAB’s Special Prosecutor Javed Arshad affirmed, “We will certainly play,” to which Prosecutor Rafi Maqsood added, “This case carries a 14-year sentence, but we want it to be treated like a normal case.”
The court’s decision to postpone the hearing has added further uncertainty to the high-profile case, with both sides indicating that the legal battle is far from over.
