Balochistan Opens Doors to World-Class Education for Youth: CM Sarfraz Bugti

Jacobabad : Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, emphasized the provincial government’s commitment to countering terrorism through education and development, stating that while terrorists aim to turn Balochistan’s youth into suicide bombers, the government is opening doors for them to prestigious institutions like Oxford and Harvard.
Speaking to media on Monday after offering condolences to PPP Chief Whip in the National Assembly, Mir Ejaz Hussain Jakhrani, on the passing of his mother, CM Bugti reiterated that Balochistan is fighting a war against terrorism. “Terrorists have no ethnicity or nation—they are just terrorists,” he said.
He stressed that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) believes in resolving issues through dialogue and if the Balochistan conflict can be resolved through talks, there would be no better outcome. “Unfortunately, instead of dialogue, some are choosing violence, and they will be responded to accordingly,” he warned.
Highlighting youth empowerment initiatives, Bugti announced the launch of the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Scholarship Program, which will facilitate access for Baloch students to top universities worldwide. “We are keeping our youth engaged in universities and colleges, steering them towards education,” he added.
Addressing a question on missing persons, the CM acknowledged the controversy surrounding the issue, noting disputes over the numbers and circumstances of disappearances. “We have introduced specific legislation in the Balochistan Assembly to address and prevent such allegations against the state and its institutions,” he stated.
Commenting on regional security, Bugti reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran, a “brother Islamic nation,” and said that a comprehensive plan is in place to manage humanitarian needs along the Iran-Balochistan border.
He also condemned the recent attack on the Jaffer Express in Jacobabad, calling it an unprecedented incident in the border area and stressing the government’s responsibility to protect citizens’ lives and property.
“Our mission remains clear—peace, education, and development in Balochistan,” the Chief Minister concluded.
