Extension of Interim Bail for PTI Leaders in November 26 Protest Cases

Islamabad: The Anti-Terrorism Court has extended the interim bails of several senior leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in connection with cases registered following the November 26 protest, and has adjourned the next hearing until June 24.
The cases against PTI leaders, including party founder and former chairman Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi, senior lawyer Salman Akram Raja, Sheer Afzal Marwat, Umair Niazi, Ali Bukhari, and other leaders, are being heard in various police stations. The court has extended the interim bails of these leaders while their cases continue.
The court directed that all defendants present their arguments during the next hearing, and that all bails be heard together.
During today’s hearing, Sheer Afzal Marwat, Umair Niazi, and other accused appeared in court. Bushra Bibi and Salman Akram Raja requested exemption from attendance, which the court granted.
Cases against the PTI leaders have been registered in several police stations, including Karachi Company, Kohsar, Margalla, Aabpara, Tarnol, and Secretariat. The hearing for Bushra Bibi’s bail in the Secretariat police case has also been postponed until June 24.
Defense counsel informed the court that other accused in the same cases also have their bail hearings scheduled, and these should be heard together. The court agreed to this request and set the next hearing for all the bails on June 24.
