Aamir Khan Responds to Criticism, Supports Boycott of Türkiye, Clarifies Loyalty to India

Mumbai:Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has broken his silence following sustained criticism and online campaigns against him in India, expressing his loyalty to the country and even supporting the boycott of Türkiye over its relations with Pakistan.

Appearing on the popular Indian TV show *Aap Ki Adalat*, hosted by Rajat Sharma, Aamir Khan addressed multiple controversies surrounding him. In response to allegations of lacking patriotism, he highlighted that he was the first Indian actor whose film openly mentioned “Pakistan” by name. He cited examples from his acclaimed films *Sarfarosh*, *Rang De Basanti*, and *Lagaan*, emphasizing their patriotic themes. “In *Sarfarosh*, we explicitly mentioned Pakistan and the ISI,” he said.

When asked why he remained silent after the Pulwama attack, Aamir clarified, “I did condemn the Pulwama incident. I am not on social media, but I delayed the trailer release of my film and didn’t leave home for several days due to the shock.”

Speaking about Türkiye, the actor said, “We should not support Türkiye at all, especially when they are aiding Pakistan. We were among the first to offer humanitarian aid after their earthquake, and in return, this is how they treated us? It’s absolutely wrong.”

A question was also raised about a photo of Aamir Khan with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Aamir explained that the photo was taken during an official visit, during which the Indian government itself was engaging with Türkiye. “If someone invites you for tea, it doesn’t feel right to say no,” he remarked.

Clips from Aamir’s interview have gone viral on social media, sparking a wave of mixed reactions. Some users sympathized with the actor, noting that he seemed compelled to prove his patriotism.

One user, **Mohammad Faheem**, wrote, “If someone as big as Aamir Khan has to justify his loyalty, imagine the scrutiny an ordinary Indian Muslim faces daily.”

Another, **Dr. Rumi**, commented, “Jinnah was right. Muslims who stayed in India would spend their entire lives proving their loyalty. Aamir Khan is not to blame.”

However, others were critical. **Fakhar Durrani** wrote, “I used to consider Aamir Khan a great actor and a good human being. But after seeing these interview clips, he may be a good Indian, but he is no longer a good human. His hatred for Pakistan is evident. A true artist does not hate.”
