Light Rain and Drizzle Bring Pleasant Weather to Karachi, More Showers Expected Across Sindh

Karachi: The city of Karachi experienced a welcome respite from the heat on Sunday, as light rain and drizzle hit various areas, making the weather more pleasant and reducing the intense heat and humidity.
According to reports, light showers were observed in areas like Sajani Town, New Karachi, and Gulshan-e-Maymar, while Orangi Town and Baldia Town also saw cloudy skies with light rain recorded. The meteorological department reported a humidity level of 45% in the city.
The department has forecasted further rainfall for Karachi overnight, with light to moderate showers expected in different parts of the city. The rains are part of a new weather system, which was earlier predicted to bring western winds to the country and result in rainfall in Karachi’s outskirts.
While Sindh saw hot and humid conditions on Sunday, a few areas experienced partial cloud cover. The weather office also indicated possible rain in several other districts across the province, including Mithi, Umerkot, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Dadu, Sukkur, Ghotki, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Karachi, Hyderabad, and surrounding areas.
The Meteorological Department had previously announced that the pre-monsoon system would start affecting the eastern regions of Sindh from Saturday evening, with expectations of thunderstorms and heavy winds, particularly in some areas.
Areas like Tharparkar and Umerkot are expected to see strong winds along with scattered showers. The department also mentioned the arrival of moisture-laden winds in the northern regions of the country, with the possibility of western winds affecting the region between June 13-16.
Rain is also expected in the upper regions of the country, including Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galyat, and various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the possibility of dust storms and hailstorms.
Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore are likely to see showers, along with areas in Upper and Central Punjab, and parts of Balochistan, including Zhob, Barkhan, and Musa Khel.
In addition, scattered rain and thunderstorms are predicted for southern Punjab, bringing much-needed relief to the region.
