Punjab’s Budget for Fiscal Year 2025-26 to Be Presented Tomorrow with No New Taxes

Lahore: Punjab’s Finance Minister, Miftah Shuja-ur-Rehman, will present the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 in the Punjab Assembly tomorrow (Monday) for approval. Before the presentation in the assembly, the budget will be approved in a special meeting of the provincial cabinet.
Minister Miftah Shuja-ur-Rehman stated that the upcoming budget will reflect the public-friendly policies and the development vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He emphasized that no new taxes will be imposed in the new budget, and the focus will be on ensuring the collection of existing taxes.
He further explained that the efficient use of provincial assets will be a priority policy of the Punjab government to increase resources. Ongoing successful projects in education, health, and social protection will continue to be funded.
The Finance Minister added that the budget will focus on protecting the rights of women, children, people with disabilities, workers, and other marginalized groups. Technical and financial support will be provided to small and medium-sized businesses, and the farmer’s card will be made more effective.
Minister Shuja-ur-Rehman concluded by stating that the upcoming budget will prioritize economic development, transparency, and social protection. Special attention will be given to the development of underdeveloped areas, particularly in South Punjab.
