Mahmood Khan Achakzai Addresses Key Meetings of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Discusses National and International Issues

QUETTA:Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Chairman of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP), Head of the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan, and Member of the National Assembly, addressed the meetings of the party’s Central Executive Committee and the Central Working Committee. These meetings were held on June 11 and 12, 2025, at the residence of the party’s Central General Secretary, Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, in Quetta.

During the sessions, in-depth discussions were held on party organizational matters, internal discipline, performance review, and the political situation both nationally and internationally. Reports on the organizational performance were presented by all Provincial General Secretaries and the Central General Secretary during the Working Committee meeting, followed by detailed deliberations.

The leadership of the party’s key policy-making bodies unanimously commended the ongoing struggle under the leadership of Mahmood Khan Achakzai and the platform of the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan for the supremacy of the Constitution, parliamentary autonomy, people’s sovereignty, and the protection of fundamental human, political, and civil rights.

The leadership expressed complete satisfaction with the party’s leadership and strategy and decided to further strengthen the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution through continued consultations with other political parties and democratic forces.

While addressing the sessions, Mahmood Khan Achakzai emphasized that the Central Working Committee is the highest policy-making and leadership body of the party, and all members are an active part of this leadership. He stated that the true measure of leadership is based on principles, values, and character, urging all party members and leaders to adhere to these values. He stressed that their responsibility is not only political but also focused on social welfare.

Achakzai also called for strict adherence to tolerance, mutual respect, politeness, and organizational discipline within the party and at organizational levels. He urged workers to prioritize party and public interests over personal benefits. He highlighted the need to fight against gender discrimination, social evils, and outdated tribal biases while promoting quality education, particularly for women, and taking an active role in public welfare.

Furthermore, Achakzai pointed out that one of the main causes of the historical decline of Afghan Pashtuns has been internal tribal rivalries, jealousy, and intolerance. He stressed the importance of completely avoiding such behaviors.

On the topic of law and order and state authority, Achakzai expressed concerns about the continuous grip of undemocratic forces over power, leading to the erosion of the constitutional and legal framework. He criticized the current state of lawlessness, rampant crime, looting, and corruption, and stated that state institutions have lost their credibility and effectiveness.

The veteran politician also rejected the current federal budget, calling it “anti-poor” and a tool for protecting the interests of the elite. He criticized the budget for its unjust distribution of resources and its lack of relevance to the common people. He referenced the latest World Bank report showing that nearly 45% of Pakistan’s population is now below the poverty line, yet the state’s priorities do not reflect public welfare.

He reiterated that the strongest defense for any state lies in its citizens’ prosperity, dignity, and political freedom under the rule of law and constitution. Achakzai also emphasized that Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party believes in tolerance, respect, religious and cultural harmony, and peaceful coexistence.

Chairman Achakzai further called for a reformation of Pakistan, advocating for a country where the constitution, law, and the will of the people prevail, and where the elected parliament is fully autonomous in shaping domestic and foreign policies. He also demanded that all fabricated and politically motivated cases against political leaders, including PTI’s founder Imran Khan, be immediately withdrawn and that free and fair elections be held promptly.

Discussing the international situation, Achakzai remarked that the global political and financial system created after World War II is now showing signs of collapse, and new alignments are emerging. He mentioned that while U.S. President Donald Trump has the right to prioritize “America First,” this principle should not be enforced at the expense of weaker nations. He urged emerging global powers to adhere to the same principle.

In conclusion, Achakzai praised China’s diplomatic efforts in fostering friendly relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan and expressed hope that these initiatives would contribute to long-term peace and development in the region.
