3 More Inmates Captured After Malir Jailbreak; Sindh Jail Minister Takes Notice of Conflicting Data

Karachi – Sindh Minister for Prisons Ali Hasan Zardari made a surprise visit to Malir District Jail after taking serious notice of conflicting reports regarding the number of escaped prisoners from the facility.
During the visit, the minister reprimanded former jail officials for failing to provide accurate figures and recommended further departmental action against responsible officers to the Chief Minister of Sindh.
Ali Hasan Zardari also engaged in detailed discussions with inmates about their legal cases, health, and food conditions. He stated that his visit was in line with directives from President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, emphasizing that party leadership is committed to ensuring better facilities for prisoners.
He added that any form of bribery or harassment of inmates or their visitors would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Meanwhile, law enforcement has successfully recaptured three more escaped inmates, bringing the total number of apprehended or voluntarily returned prisoners to 152.
According to Malir District Jail administration, a total of 225 inmates had escaped, of which 125 returned voluntarily or were captured earlier. However, 73 prisoners are still at large, and search operations are actively ongoing to locate and apprehend them.
