Pakistan-China Ties Will Remain Unshakable, Says Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif
**Islamabad:** Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has reaffirmed that Pakistan’s relationship with China will remain steadfast under all circumstances and emphasized the country’s unwavering commitment to the One-China policy.
The Prime Minister made these remarks during a meeting with Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China, at the Prime Minister’s House. The meeting coincided with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif welcomed the Chinese delegation and described the visit as occurring at a highly significant moment. He highlighted earlier high-level exchanges this year, including the visits of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to Beijing, and the Home Minister’s visit to Shanghai, with the Speaker of the National Assembly expected to visit China soon.
Expressing good wishes to President Xi Jinping and the Chinese leadership, the Prime Minister praised the “steel-strong” strategic partnership between the two countries. He also lauded China’s generous support for Pakistan, particularly through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and stressed the need for the timely and effective implementation of the next phases of CPEC.
The Prime Minister reiterated an invitation to President Xi to make an official visit to Pakistan this year, noting the special significance of 2026 as a historic milestone for both countries.
In response, Sun Haiyan thanked Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and expressed China’s determination to further strengthen long-standing bilateral ties across all sectors. She commended the Prime Minister’s efforts to promote economic and political stability in Pakistan and said the Chinese people take pride in Pakistan’s diplomatic achievements.
Sun Haiyan also highlighted that the Communist Party of China maintains strong relations with Pakistan’s various political parties and emphasized the importance of party-level interactions to further enhance cooperation.
