Strict Action Taken Against Absentee Medical Staff in Quetta Hospitals; 15 Nurses Fired, 18 Doctors Under Disciplinary Probe

Quetta:In a bid to improve healthcare services for the public and align with the vision of Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sardarfaz Bugti, and the clear directives of Provincial Health Minister, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, the reform process in the health sector continues at full speed. On the occasion of Eid, the Provincial Health Minister personally visited hospitals to review the medical services provided and initiated stringent departmental actions against absentee staff.
At Sandeman Provincial Hospital in Quetta, 15 contract nurses were immediately dismissed for being absent from duty without prior notice. In addition, disciplinary actions have been initiated against 18 postgraduate trainee doctors and house officers who were also found absent on duty. According to a notification issued by the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, the dismissed nurses include Kubra Sitar, Anosha Amjad, Hameera Iqbal, Yasmeen, Arifa, Sajjad Ahmad, Sabiha Faqir, Sameena Mohammad Hashim, Ramzan, Laila Abdul Mateen, Haq Nawaz, Abdul Rashid, Parveen Ghulam, Shazia Alam, and Kainat Akbar.
Furthermore, disciplinary proceedings have been ordered against 18 postgraduate doctors and house officers who were absent without permission on June 7 and 8. Their stipends have been immediately halted as per the directives. The doctors involved in the action include Dr. Jameela, Dr. Hira, Dr. Palosha, Dr. Sabira, Dr. Tanveer, Dr. Mohiuddin, Dr. Inayatullah, Dr. Abdul Hamid, Dr. Qasim, Dr. Kulsoom, Dr. Raahat Shah, Dr. Nasrat, Dr. Naveed, Dr. Barrah, Dr. Amaah, Dr. Waqas, Dr. Fazal Muhammad, and Dr. Matiullah.
Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar emphasized that absenteeism will not be tolerated under any circumstances. “Negligence in patient care is unforgivable,” he stated. He also underlined that maintaining discipline and professional standards in hospitals is a top priority to ensure timely and effective medical services for the public.
