JUI-F Announces Province-Wide Strike, Protests in Balochistan Over Madrassa Raids

Quetta:** Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Balochistan chief and Senator **Maulana Abdul Wasay** has announced a احتجاجی تحریک against raids on religious seminaries, declaring a province-wide shutter-down strike on May 6.

Speaking at a press conference at the party’s provincial secretariat following a meeting of the Majlis-e-Shura, Abdul Wasay said protests would be held across Balochistan, while madrassa students and party workers would march towards Quetta on May 10. He added that party lawmakers would also stage احتجاج داخل the Balochistan Assembly.

He stated that JUI-F chief **Maulana Fazlur Rehman** is scheduled to address a party conference in Pishin on June 4.

Abdul Wasay accused the government of ظلم against religious institutions, calling madrassas the party’s “red line” and warning that raids would not be tolerated. He said the party had set a deadline for Chief Minister **Sarfaraz Bugti** to apologize over the issue, but no action had been taken so far.

He emphasized that the protest movement would remain peaceful and that no damage to public or private property would be allowed. However, he warned that JUI-F lawmakers would strongly protest in the اسمبلی and disrupt proceedings if their demands were not met.

The JUI-F leader also rejected the implementation of the Societies Act for madrassa registration and criticized the government for failing to fulfill commitments regarding the Mines and Minerals Act. He added that if amendments are not addressed in the May 5 assembly session agenda, the party will proceed with its planned march on May 10.

Abdul Wasay further stated that despite the passage of madrassa-related legislation at the national level, provincial implementation remains lacking, urging authorities to take فوری اقدامات to resolve the issue.
