Pakistan Proposes Development Budget for 2025/26: Key Allocations for Education, Defence, and Water Resources

Islamabad: The Pakistani government has proposed a federal budget for the financial year 2025/26 with significant allocations for various sectors. The budget suggests 18.58 billion rupees for Federal Education and Professional Training, 11.55 billion rupees for the Defence Division, and 90.22 billion rupees for the Power Division.
Key allocations also include 133.42 billion rupees for the Water Resources Division and 70.38 billion rupees for development schemes by members of parliament. The proposed budget further suggests 2.869 trillion rupees for provincial annual development programs, and over 682 billion rupees for federal ministries and divisions’ developmental projects.
For state-owned entities, more than 35 crore rupees are proposed, with the National Highway Authority (NHA) receiving 226.98 billion rupees. The total federal development budget is set at 1 trillion rupees for the upcoming year.
The Higher Education Commission is proposed to receive more than 39.48 billion rupees, while the Railways Division is allocated 22.41 billion rupees. Additionally, the Ministry of Planning and Development will receive more than 21 billion rupees, and National Health will get 14.34 billion rupees in developmental funds. The Ministry of Interior is allocated 12.90 billion rupees, and the Ministry of Information is proposed to receive over 6 billion rupees for its development programs.
This proposal aims to address key development challenges and promote sustainable growth across various sectors of the country.
