According to international news agency Reuters, UEFA confirmed that the spectator fell from the second tier of the main stand and landed on the seats below. Despite the presence of emergency medical services at the stadium and extensive efforts by the medical team, the fan could not be saved.
A UEFA spokesperson expressed deep condolences, stating, “Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family and loved ones of the deceased fan during this difficult time.”
Portuguese defender Nuno Mendes also offered his heartfelt sympathies. “I extend my condolences to the family of the fan who passed away. It’s a heartbreaking incident during what was meant to be a moment of celebration.”
